Health & Safety at NWSC
All persons are welcome to fully participate in NWSC, regardless of gender identity, sexual orientation, sex, race, national origin, physical ability, or other immutable aspect of their particular life experience. Campers are welcome to use shared rooms and restrooms corresponding to their established gender identity.
NWSC prioritizes safety: physical, emotional, and spiritual.
Participation is voluntary; campers join to their comfort without judgment or reprisal.
Culture of consent: stay humble about others’ needs and give individuals agency to choose.
Shared values: Love, Harmony, and Beauty guide the community.
Time together may produce friction or personal growth opportunities; support is available.
Health & Safety Committee members are identified at camp and can be approached about harmful or confusing incidents.
Camp Counselor is available for individual concerns.
Background checks: anyone working with youth must pass a public sex-offender database check per NWSC Board policy.
Things That Spread in the Air
Post-COVID awareness: if you have symptoms of a contagious illness at camp start, please stay home.
Stay-home request protects campers with fragile immune systems.
Full refund of camp fees if you miss camp due to sickness.
We request that the atmosphere of NWSC be free of strong scents (perfume, scented oils, fragrances) to accommodate those with breathing difficulties.
